Copper electrical wire buyers in Virginia

Copper is the simplest material to value and the easiest to overstate. The useful question is not how much copper a lot holds, but what the wire still is: a tagged, unopened reel of THHN is a different asset from a cut partial with no label.

We review copper electrical wire and cable held anywhere in Virginia, in commercial quantities, when the material is surplus to the work it was bought for: cancelled projects, contractor overage, distributor overstock, plant maintenance stock, or a decommissioned line. Wire and cable only — not busbar, not switchgear, not stripped copper scrap.

Copper constructions we review

  • Building wire: THHN, THWN, THWN-2, TW, XHHW and XHHW-2 in copper, solid and stranded.
  • Grounding: bare copper, green insulated grounding conductors, bonding jumpers on original spools.
  • Service and feeder: copper SER and SEU, large single-conductor feeder, parallel sets on matched reels.
  • Industrial: copper tray cable, control and instrumentation cable, VFD cable, motor lead wire.
  • Specialty: welding cable, SOOW portable cord, fire alarm and low-voltage cable in factory packaging.

Why the reel tag carries more weight than the weight

A factory tag tells us the put-up, the construction, the voltage rating and the manufacturer in one glance. Without it, footage has to be measured and the construction proved from the jacket print, which is slower and leaves more room for disagreement. If the tag is missing, photograph the jacket legend along its length so type, size, temperature rating and any listing marks are legible.

What quietly reduces a copper lot

Water sitting inside an outdoor reel, sun-cracked jacket on material stored uncovered, one reel that has been cut three times for three different jobs, spray paint over the tag, or a mixed pallet of six sizes that nobody wants to count. None of those make a lot worthless, but they change what the review can support, so it is better to send the awkward details than to have them found at pickup.

Send the lot, not a description of copper in general

City or ZIP, reel count, approximate footage, size and construction, condition, and how a truck would load it. Photographs of the tag, the jacket print and the full reel do the rest. If you are unsure what a reel is, photograph it anyway and mark it unknown — mixed and unidentified material can be submitted for review without any promise that it will be accepted.

Questions sellers ask

Questions about this material

Do you buy copper wire by weight or by reel?

The review starts with the reel: construction, size, voltage rating, footage and condition. Weight is used as a cross-check once those are understood, because a ton of mixed partial reels and a ton of tagged factory put-ups are not the same material.

Is stripped, chopped or burned copper accepted?

No. This is a wire and cable buying service for usable and surplus material. Processed scrap, bare chopped conductor and burned wire are outside scope, and we do not encourage stripping cable to change how a lot is classified.

Can a partial copper reel with no tag be submitted?

Yes. Send a measured length if you can, plus a clear jacket print and a photo of the cut end. It will be reviewed on its actual evidence; an untagged partial is simply reviewed more cautiously than a sealed factory reel.

Describe the lot as it actually sits. Photos of the reel tag and jacket print do more than any description, and mixed or unidentified cable can still be submitted for review.
