Surplus electrical wire buyers in Northern Virginia
NoVA produces more electrical wire surplus per square mile than anywhere else in the state, and almost all of it is trapped behind a loading dock schedule and a security desk.

Northern Virginia — Loudoun, Fairfax, Prince William, Arlington and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Manassas and Falls Church — is a dense mix of data centre construction, federal and defence contracting, commercial fit-out and institutional work. Each of those produces wire that was bought for a scope and not installed.
Where wire surplus comes from here
- Data centre fit-outs in Loudoun and Prince William: large feeder, grounding, tray and control cable in matched sets.
- Commercial interiors in Tysons, Reston, Herndon and Arlington: MC, THHN and low-voltage cable after tenant changes.
- Federal and defence contractors: documented overage released through a property process.
- Institutional and campus work: laboratory and controls cable from phased upgrades.
The constraint is never the wire
It is access. A completed data hall has badging, escorts and freight elevator windows. A Tysons office tower has a loading dock booked by the building, not the tenant. A Sterling warehouse is straightforward by comparison. Tell us which of those you are in, because a reel that can leave at 6 am on a Tuesday is a different asset from one that needs a crane permit and a road closure.
Storage patterns to expect
Cable in this region is usually indoors: a cage in a data hall, a service corridor, a mezzanine in an industrial park off Route 28, or a contractor's laydown area in Chantilly or Manassas. Indoor storage helps condition and hurts logistics, since the material may be behind three doors and a freight lift.
Small lots still count. In NoVA a "small" lot can be four pallets of 500 kcmil or a cage of shielded control cable. Send the details; the review decides on specifications, not on pallet count.
Moving a lot out of Northern Virginia
Interstate 66, 495, 95 and the Dulles Toll Road set the practical windows for any pickup. Freight, loading and timing are agreed per transaction in writing, and heavy reels may need a roll-off rather than a flatbed. If your site has a dock with a height restriction, say so at the start.

Questions sellers ask
Questions about this material
Can you collect from a secured data centre campus?
Yes, within the site's own access process: badging, escort, freight routing and permitted hours. Provide those conditions with the submission so they are planned rather than discovered on the day.
Do you review small commercial fit-out leftovers?
Yes, as a single grouped submission. Group by construction and size, give approximate footage, and include photographs of the tags.

Describe the lot as it actually sits. Photos of the reel tag and jacket print do more than any description, and mixed or unidentified cable can still be submitted for review.
