Selling distributor overstock wire in Virginia

Distribution branches rarely have one problem reel. They have a rack of SKUs that stopped earning their space, and a manager who needs the space back before the next inventory count.

Electrical distributors, wholesalers and rep firms across Virginia hold surplus wire for structural reasons: discontinued lines, cancelled customer orders, over-bought promotions, branch consolidations and the slow drift of colours and sizes out of specification. We review that inventory, wire and cable only.

How a branch clean-out is reviewed

  • Scope first. Pick the lines you want gone — obsolete colours, damaged packaging, dead stock over 24 months, or a specific rack.
  • SKU detail. Size, construction, colour, manufacturer, put-up, quantity and label status for each line.
  • Condition. Sealed, opened, re-wrapped, customer return, or damaged. Each is reviewed differently.
  • Logistics. Rack height, aisle width, dock availability and whether a trailer can back in.

What makes a branch lot easy

An inventory export with the original receipt dates is the single most useful document a distributor can send. It answers the question the review would otherwise ask about every reel. Photographs of the rack faces then confirm condition without needing one photo per SKU.

What makes it hard

Re-wrapped reels with the original tag removed, mixed pallets where three sizes share one band, and returns that nobody documented. None of these are disqualifying, but they shift the review from "documented stock" to "unidentified material", which is a different conversation.

We do not ask for a whole-branch commitment. A 40-SKU review answers faster than an all-or-nothing proposal, and it lets the branch test the process before committing to a full consolidation.

Submitting

Send the export or a photographed picking list, a handful of rack photographs, the branch city and the dock situation. If you have already palletised material for return or scrap, say so and keep it separate.

Questions sellers ask

Questions about this material

Can we submit a spreadsheet rather than photos?

Yes, and it is preferred for branch stock. A spreadsheet or PDF export plus a few rack photographs gives the review both the quantities and the condition.

Do you review discontinued colours and obsolete constructions?

Yes, where the construction is still standard or the print identifies it. Discontinued colours are reviewed as their own lines rather than blended into the total.

What about manufacturer returns and warranty stock?

Those are usually handled through the manufacturer's process first. Surplus that has fallen outside that process can be submitted for review as ordinary overstock.

Describe the lot as it actually sits. Photos of the reel tag and jacket print do more than any description, and mixed or unidentified cable can still be submitted for review.

Up to 10 MB total per submission. Reel tags and the printed jacket legend are the two most useful photos you can take.

Before you send

We review specifications and condition before any offer. Price, payment timing, freight, loading and pickup responsibility are confirmed in writing for each transaction, and no offer exists until that written confirmation. Please do not send banking, payment or identity documents.
